Ultimately the history books will judge the times of today and without a doubt Yemen will forever prosper. I have no doubt that Saleh will face the courts for the crimes he committed against his people.  For I believe that governments have no right to kill their own people no matter what their specific reasoning should be. A government that murders its own people no longer has the right to govern and should take full responsibility for every blood lost in its atrocities against its own people. The Pro Saleh Yemeni government should be dismantled in all its entirety and it will soon need to be punished as well! I pray that the Almighty keep those who lost loved ones strong and patient for a better tomorrow.  Now with that been said I do believe the Yemeni people must tackle the main problems of their day: Gender inequalities, illiteracy, economy, terrorism, and sectarian violence just to name a few.

It is a waste to just sit around and complain while so much is at stake.  It is that fundamental human belief that tyranny will never prevail so as long as hope is alive. And I have hope that justice will be served now or later.

The Yemeni people have endured a dictator that has killed thousands during his rule. Domestic war after domestic war was declared for every year he ruled Yemen. And without a doubt justice must be served.  But that does not give any excuse for anyone to retaliate with violence.  This is wrong and distasteful.  I do believe that the International Courts will step in at some point and until then, the Yemeni care taker government must begin to tackle the issues and wrongs in the daily lives of the Yemeni people. Yemen is at a pivotal position right now. It is up to the care taker government to establish normality in the Yemeni way of life. The Yemen is a beautiful nation and so much needs to be done post Saleh. To choose to ignore the fact that rightful decisions need to be made is an abomination to the martyrs of the revolution. I believe that if every African nation follows Rwanda’s example in setting a mandatory constitutional mandate that will have a fixed percent for women to be in government, than maybe there will be equality. Sadly many nations rely heavily on the Millennium Development Goals. The International community should come together and enforce African Nations to begin a mandatory constitutional mandate for women, so that equality in government will be a promise. Women across the world have endured hardship, and mistreatments and its time to end that and give women what they deserve. Women’s rights co-exist with Human rights, because it is human right to be able to be part of the decision making.  If a country does not give women the right to participate in government as they wish than I truly believe that country is violating Human Rights.  What kind of society can flourish if half its population has no say on what is to be?

So many women and children have died, from both sides and the situation is not getting any better. Years, decades, centuries have passed as the United Nations as a dysfunctional organization as it is has failed to do its job; and that is to maintain world peace. Dignitaries gather every year in the UN headquarters, to solve world problems yet they have ignored to find an absolute solution to the Israeli, and Palestinian problem. Yes, resolutions have been passed, treatises have been signed but yet the problem has not been solved or calmed.

Since September 11 2000, Palestinians have waged a second (Intifada), a national uprising, to end and destroy Israel’s right to exist as a nation. Since then Israel has endured many terrorist attacks that include bombing of buses, supermarkets, restaurants, and many more public locations. This is a fundamental Political crisis that also needs to be resolved.

As a respective of myself and others who think like me, I am here to propose a resolution to help resolve the Palestinian and Israeli conflict. First I would tackle the Palestinian Refugee Crisis. Many people in the international community fully do not know what a Palestinian Refugee is. A Palestinian Refugee is a Palestinian who has left, and or was expelled from his land during the 1947-1949 Periods. And from the 1948 conflict, lost his home and his means of lively hood and took refugee in one of the countries where the United Nations Relief & Works Agency (UNRWA), provides relief.

The question of do refugees has the right to return to Israel? Is a question that has been tried to be answered by the International community for decades? The General Assembly in December 11, 1948, created the first major UN resolution on how to take steps in solving the refugee problem. This resolution was Resolution 194; In the introduction of this resolution, the Arab states rejected the resolution but now have relied heavily on it. After the Six-Day Arab-Israeli War, in 1967 the Security Council passed Resolution 237, in June 4, 1967. After the Camp David Agreement in 1978; Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, and Israel created a framework to tackle the Palestinian Refugee problem. Although it was a history making agreement, none of the agreements made by the signers respectively granted the Palestinian Refugees the right of return to Israel. After that agreement a question and recommendation arose; should the refugees be compensated? And if so who will be responsible? And how much will be paid?

I believe since this is part of an international crisis the international community should come together and establish a fund in which other nations including Israel will contribute. This fund will co-exist with the United Nations Relief & Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. The UNRWA is not well funded and wont be able to compensate refugees alone. It will need and does need all of the help it can get. And once the refugees have been compensated the United Nations Relief & Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East will no longer need to exist. This means more savings for the international community in the long run. I have given my proposal for the Palestinian Refugee problem, and that is to compensate the refugees because that is the safest and most logical proposal to try to maintain or to allow the Jewish state (Israel) to be in peace and a Jewish state.

Once the Palestinian Refugee problem is tackled, and resolved than and only than will a two state resolution proposal begin. Having had the debate of the refugees done, now we can begin writing a two state resolution, without the Palestinian Refugee problem holding us back. I pray that my proposal will be a step into peace in the middle-east.

The next step will be for Israel to decide, if they are willing to cooperate for a two state solution living peacefully side by side, and for the Palestinians to create a peaceful non-terrorist based government. I know there are many sufferings from both sides, but that should not be an excuse to try and come to a common ground. Stop living in the past, and let’s start living in the present. The whole world community should start saying enough of the blame game.

It’s not easy to summarize a huge religion such as Islam in just 9 panels so I tried to make things simple and focus on the basics.

I have evaluated the current state of gender of (in) equality in the United States by using three-pronged approaches. First, I looked at recent and not so recent photos and videos of American women who are public figures, and studied the women’s appearance—including the way they dress, act, and speak. I have Analyzed the photos of American women to examine in what ways their appearance (clothing, grooming, behavior, speech, etc.) today is it still marked or unmarked and explain what the marked and/or unmarked characteristics suggest about the current state of gender (in)equality in the United States. Second, I have also analyzed how the women in the photos and videos are being treated, and I will explain in this post what this suggests about the current state of gender (in) equality. Third, I have looked at recent and historic texts and speeches created in the U.S. and I have studied their language. I will analyze to what extent sexist language and sexist attitudes conveyed by language have been diminishing over the years, and explain what this suggests about the current state of gender (in) equality in the United States.

The United States in some parts of the world is seen as one of few nations, that gives women equal rights to that of men.  Women are able to be doctors, teachers, and clothes models, to participate in government, to participate in athletic sports, to drive cars, to be CEO’s, to vote, to work in the financial sector, and even to be authors.  Yet what many don’t know it was not always like this.  Women once in American history were not allowed to vote.  I always question why our country’s founding fathers did not permit women to vote.  Even in the Declaration of Independence our founding fathers were sexist.  I say this because in the Declaration of Independence our founding fathers wrote in the Declaration of independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.”  The word men disturbs me because of all the words in the English language the founding fathers choose men to represent human beings.  Why couldn’t the founding fathers write, “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all people are created equal?”

In “Sexism in English: Embodiment and Language.”  Nilsen writes, “If a woman is swept off a ship into the water, the cry is ‘Man overboard!’ If she is killed by a hit-and-run driver, the charge is ‘manslaughter’ If she is injured on the job, the coverage is ‘workmen’s compensation’ But is she arrives at a threshold marked ‘Men Only,’ she knows the admonition is not intended to bar animals or plants or inanimate objects. It is meant for her.” (page 103, Nilsen). I really have never thought of this issue at all.  It really is sad that people really judge people on the way they dress, walk, and talk. What has the world come to?  Have we not come a long way from judging, and discrimination?  In a way we have but it still exists in different forms.  Nilsen speaks about the different words that include man.

As I was growing up with eight sisters I was taught that my sisters and I will also be treated equally.  Even though no one got spoiled, I can truly say much was to be expected from me.  I am asked to evaluate the current state of gender (in) equality in the U.S. towards females.  I understand that woman, are always watched and criticized on the way they dress, speak, and basically how the present themselves.  I understand that it is quite hard, but men also have those expectations and other expectations also. The gender inequalities are equally touching the lives of man and woman.  Man also experience unequal judgment in American society.  It’s as hard to be male as it is to be a female.
